Energy for business

Over a quarter of the connections to the Counties Energy network are commercial or industrial operations. We provide energy to local farms, market gardens, retailers, service businesses, processing operations, manufacturing plants and other types of existing, and emerging business.

Read on to find out more about the connection services available to businesses on the Counties Energy network.

Meeting the energy needs of business customers

For most businesses, a connection that is either single phase (up to 63 amps) or has multiple phases (of up to 100 amps per phase) will be suitable for their needs.

Some manufacturing operations may need more capacity to operate, so please make sure you identify if your connection has the capacity to meet your requirements, particularly if these are likely to change. For example, if you are planning to move into a new building and/or install new electrical machinery or devices you may need to review your capacity requirements.

It is best practice for businesses that rely on electricity to have a suitable uninterrupted power supply (UPS), generator, or other back-up supply options in place. Find out more about connecting Distributed Generation (DG) solutions, such as batteries and other technologies that feed back into the grid, to our network, here.

When setting up new energy connections, it’s also important to ensure you have business continuity measures in place, should your energy supply be interrupted.
