Pedaling for good
Held on Sunday 13 October it is organised by the Rotary Club of Pukekohe Inc to raise funds for local charities. It promises to be a fun day for the whole family, including cycle races for all levels, the Counties Power Electric Bike Race and a special ride around the track at Pukekohe Park for children.
Race organiser Graham Russell says this is the third year for the fundraising event which continues to grow in popularity.
“The race is becoming a regular feature for local cyclists and e-cyclists and those who come from afar. There are a range of races to suit all levels while enjoying a day’s ride in the picturesque Franklin countryside. Children can also bring their bikes or scooters and take a turn around the track.”
Race distances include 42km for fun cyclists, 52km for intermediate cyclists, 97km for experienced cyclists, the 52km Counties Power Electric Bike Race and a ride around Pukekohe Park track for children and their caregivers.
Counties Power Chief Executive Judy Nicholl says the company is proud to continue their partnership with Rotary on the event.
“We’re excited to help bring this family event to our community, promoting healthy activity in our area while also raising money for local charities. It’s also another way for us to promote electric bikes, an excellent way to get people outside and active. We have nine electric bikes here at Counties Power which we encourage our staff to use on their breaks and to ride to local meetings to reduce vehicle trips on the roads.”
