Power upgrade for Otaua

More than 10 kilometres of network will be rebuilt and 100 power poles replaced as part of the large-scale project.

Counties Power General Manger Operations Dale Carline says the work will provide a more robust network and enable a back feed to supply the area should a fault occur.

“This project will significantly improve safety and reliability for 88 Otaua customers, including homes, farms, businesses and the school. More than 42 kilometres of conductor will be used to complete this $1.4m upgrade.”

“Our crews will be working along the roadside in the area for the coming months and I urge road users to please slow down through work sites and follow all traffic management procedures in place to keep our crews safe.”

The project should be completed by Christmas. Roads affected include Thomson, Maioro, Perry, Robertson, Forestry, Ghezzie, Motion, Hoods Landing, Wilson and Huarau Way.

Any scheduled power shutdowns will be communicated via letter at least 10 workings days prior and advertised on the Counties Power website – countiespower.com – and on the app. To get the app type app.countiespower.com in your smartphone internet browser.

Counties Power reminds the public to always treat all lines and electrical equipment as live and to call 0800 100 202 or use the Counties Power app to report any issues.
