Counties Power App helps keep the power flowing

The Counties Power App is a web-based solution that offers customers a quick and easy way to report and be informed of power outages that affect their home or business.

Counties Power Chief Executive Judy Nicholl says that the app will keep customers up to date 24/7, providing assurance around their power supply. “Customers don’t have to stay in the dark if their power goes out – they simply need to reach for their smartphone for real time updates.  Our new Counties Power App will keep them up-to-date on the expected resolution time and when the fault has been restored.  This means people can plan their day and simply wait for a text or email direct to their smartphone to stay informed.”

“We trialled the system last year with a selection of engaged community members to ensure we had a system that met the needs of our customers and gave clear information in the way that best suited their needs.  We’re confident we’ve delivered a helpful tool that customers will find extremely useful.  I’d like to thank those who participated in this trial as their feedback helped to shape what we’ve launched today,” she says.

Users can choose to be informed by text or email and can even specify what time of the day to be notified or if they wish to receive messages 24/7 – something that business owners and farmers say is important to them.

Customers can log their issue via the app, or check if the outage is already known to Counties Power. The map shows locations on the network currently experiencing an issue, with the information detailing if a Counties Power crew is on site, the expected resolution time and when power has been restored.

This is especially handy in storm events when there could be multiple outages across the district. Users can simply check the app, giving them peace of mind that the fault has been recorded and crews are working to get their power flowing as soon as possible.

Customers who register their ICP number (found at the top of their power bill from their electricity retailer) will be notified immediately if their saved location is affected by a network outage. This assurance is extremely beneficial for both homes and businesses. Multiple locations can be added so users can register homes, community facilities such as halls and clubrooms and businesses.

The Counties Power App uses banking-grade security, giving customers assurance that their personal information is safe.
