11.8m of Christmas cheer for local power users

The Counties Power discount will be paid as a credit on customer’s December or January power bill from their electricity retailer.

Counties Power provides a discount to power customers connected to their network as at 2 November 2018, based on power consumption over the year.

Counties Power Chief Executive Judy Nicholl says that the company is committed to returning a significant discount to power users each year, while also continuing with their large-scale network reinvestment programme.

“We’re proud to offer nearly $12m, the largest discount amount so far, to our consumers.  For the third year in a row we have been able to maintain the price of our lines charge component to keep our customer’s power bills as low as possible.”

“As a one hundred percent consumer-owned company we work to maintain and grow a solid and reliable electricity network families, farms and businesses can rely on.  We’ve investing more than $35m this year alone on the network, with around $0m of planned works to be delivered over the next ten years.”

Customers can view the amount of discount they will receive online. By checking their discount amount online customers also automatically go into the draw for the chance to win a Samsung S9 smartphone.

Counties Power is the electricity distribution provider for the network that runs from coast to coast between southern Papakura and Mercer, and west of the Waikato River from Mercer to Waikaretu.  The company is 100 percent owned by the Counties Power Consumer Trust who holds the shares on behalf of electricity consumers.
