Working together, for tomorrow
Our environment and sustainability strategy
Our sustainability strategy was developed following a materiality assessment that considered customer, community group, competitor, partner, staff, and company leader perspectives on the significance and impact of key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues impacting our company’s operation and its stakeholders.
It has three core connected pillars, which are detailed below.
Our Vision: To continuously improve and reduce our environmental impacts in all that we do.
Some environmental impact is unavoidable with the nature of our business; however, we are always searching for opportunities to minimise these.
Our staff are equipped with the knowledge they need to protect the environment and feel comfortable to speak up if something doesn’t feel right. Additionally, all new Counties Energy developments and projects include environmental management in their project design.
Our Vision: To support and enable our communities to transition away from fossil fuel sources.
We have a key role to play in decarbonising New Zealand. In order to be successful, we must ensure our network is agile and that we help enable electricity users to make changes. As a producer of emissions ourselves, we aim to demonstrate change leadership, trial new technologies, and set ambitious targets.
Our Vision: To support our communities and champion topics that they deem important.
As a 100% consumer-owned business, we are proudly local and choose to support local wherever possible. We aim to collaborate with others and demonstrate leadership around key topics which will help our communities prosper.
