First Foundation

Counties Power is seeking a local student for a First Foundation Scholarship.

The scholarship will support a local youth who has the aptitude but not necessarily the means to gain a tertiary qualification. The scholarship will provide financial assistance towards their fees and provides them with part-time work at Counties Power during the four-year First Foundation Scholarship programme.

Counties Power General Manager People, Safety and Communications Tracey Kay says the company is excited to offer the opportunity for the first time.  She first became involved with First Foundation in 2002 and has been a strong supporter ever since.

“Receiving a First Foundation Scholarship has a hugely positive impact on both the student and their family.  The scholarship provides financial support and guidance along with a nurturing and empowering environment where the student gains knowledge and life experience. Being able to give a hand up to enable students to achieve their dreams is humbling and exciting, and something Counties Power is proud to be able to play a part in.” she says.

Counties Power has named the award the Bob Arvidson Memorial Scholarship in honour of one of the first trustees of the Counties Power Consumer Trust.

To find out more about the scholarship or to apply go to www.firstfoundation.org.nz or ask a school career advisor. Applications close 30 June 2018.
