Partnering up to benefit local community through Energy Hardship Initiative
For the third year in a row, Counties Energy has partnered with Franklin Family Services to gift Winter Warmer Packs to local families in need. This collaboration aims to support families facing energy hardships during the colder season, by providing essential items to help them stay warm and manage energy use more effectively.
The 2024 Winter Warmer Packs are designed to help families prepare warm, nutritious meals and include a variety of helpful items. Each pack contains energy-saving eco bulbs and an energy-efficient slow cooker to help reduce electricity costs. Contributing to the community effort, Pukekohe Christian School and Waiau Pa School have generously donated home-baked goods, ready-made meals, and recipe cards. Additionally, the packs include contributions from The Warehouse Group (The Warehouse Pukekohe) and Mitre 10 Mega Pukekohe, alongside fresh produce from local grower Wilcox.
Franklin Family Support Services plays an important role in ensuring that these Winter Warmer Packs reach the vulnerable households who need them the most. Their close collaboration with Counties Energy highlights a shared commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of community members facing energy hardships.
Franklin Family Support Services also recognises the significant impact this initiative has on the families they support. The partnership with Counties Energy allows them to continue offering vital assistance to those in need, making a positive difference in the community.
Counties Energy remains committed to addressing energy hardship through various initiatives. One such program, EnergyMate, offers free in-home energy efficiency consultations for families struggling with their energy bills. EnergyMate educates families on better energy consumption management and implements energy-saving practices, empowering them to reduce costs effectively by making informed decisions that reduce their power bills over time. More details about this program and how to apply can be found on the EnergyMate Program page.
Furthering our commitment, Counties Energy co-funds the ‘Warmer Kiwi Homes’ initiative, aiming to provide free heat pumps to qualifying homes this year. This initiative helps ensure that more families have access to efficient heating solutions, thereby reducing energy expenses and improving living conditions. For more information about this initiative, eligibility criteria, and how to register, visit the Warmer Kiwi Homes Programme page.
Through these combined efforts, Counties Energy is committed to making a difference by supporting local families in need as they navigate the challenges of the colder winter months. These programmes are designed to equip community members with the knowledge and tools necessary to make energy-smart decisions, ultimately fostering a culture of sustainability. The meaningful impact of these initiatives fosters a stronger, healthier, and happier community. Together, we can create lasting positive change and build a community where everyone thrives.
