Counties Energy advises community of potential power outages tomorrow morning
National grid operator Transpower has advised lines companies around New Zealand that load on the local electricity network may need to be reduced tomorrow morning. New Zealand is facing a potential shortfall of electricity supply during that time because of an unseasonal cold snap and low wind generation.
As a result, Counties Energy will need to closely monitor the amount of electricity delivered to our customer’s homes and businesses. Depending on the national response, and any subsequent Transpower request, Counties Energy may be required to cut hot water or power supply to some areas on the network.
Counties Energy is advising all customers to please reduce their power usage between 7.00am – 9.00am in an effort to reduce the need for any outages, and to prepare for a potential power outage during this time. Medically dependent customers should put their power interruption plans into place and be prepared to call 111 if required.
Some examples of how you can help:
- turn off heaters and lights in unoccupied rooms
- delay using appliances such as washing machines, clothes dryers and dishwashers until after 9am
- don’t charge electronic devices and electric vehicles between 7am and 9am.
