Counties Energy announces changes to the Board

Counties Energy is pleased to announce the appointment of William (Bill) Heaps to its Board of Directors.

Mr Heaps brings over 50 years of experience in the energy industry. An electrical engineer and seasoned executive, he has held senior roles across electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and retail. He is also a founding director of Energy for Good, a not-for-profit promoting access to sustainable electricity, and currently serves on the boards of Energy Impact and the Community Energy Network.

Counties Energy Board Chair, Keith Watson, is delighted to welcome Bill to the Counties Energy Board.  “Bill’s extensive experience across all facets of the energy sector, combined with his commitment to community-focused and sustainable energy solutions, makes him an exceptional addition to our governance team. Bill’s insights will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and deliver reliable, affordable energy to our communities.”

Mr Heaps succeeds David Tompkins, who retired from the Board in May after 10 years of dedicated service.

Mr Watson also acknowledged Mr Tompkins’ extensive contribution. “On behalf of the Board, I would like to sincerely thank David for his decade of dedicated service. His leadership and strategic guidance have been outstanding, particularly during a period of significant transformation for Counties Energy. His steady hand and technical expertise have helped steer the business through industry changes, playing a vital role in shaping the company’s direction and positioning it for future growth and resilience. We are deeply grateful for David’s contribution and wish him all the best.”
